New Recruits for 理查德登陆器学校
July 1st and 2nd marked the 今年6感应天 which included car racing, treasure hunts, team building activities and lessons to give an overall taster of 理查德登陆器学校 life. “The days were great and I especially enjoyed the science because in primary school we watch the teacher doing experiments but here we get to do everything!” one student commented. This year we had more year sixes than ever before with nearly 280 students! First they assembled in the hall for a short welcome speech from the Headteacher, and then dispersed into groups of around 25 to take part in teamwork and friendship building activities.
Just before lunch everyone went into the hall for the final of the car racing. The year six students had been given materials to make a battery powered car and decorate it however they wanted, some of them even added extra batteries to make their cars faster. We had paper-mache penguins, football pitches, beetles and bugs racing along the corridors during the heats earlier on in the day. The standard of these cars just keeps on rising. At the final race, the atmosphere was electric as the cars crossed the finishing line.
Day 2 entailed a taster of lessons which included music, art, drama, geography and more. Throughout the days Richard Lander students looked after the new recruits. “Well done RLS kids and thank you for making the year sixes feel so welcome, my daughter had an amazing time, she cannot wait until September” said a parent via Facebook. The days were very successful and we can’t wait to see you in September.
